Alexandra Hidalgo is a Ph.D. candidate in Rhetoric and Composition at Purdue University, where she teaches film and freshman composition. Her work has appeared in Films for the Feminist Classroom, Open Words: Access and English Studies and in the Genre, Reception, and Adaptation in the Twilight Series and is forthcoming in Hermione Granger Saves the World. Her research focuses on film and video production, pop culture, gender and race. She is also a documentary filmmaker currently editing her first feature film, which deals with the experiences of four immigrant women living in New York City and transforming their communities with their work. As cofounder and editor-in-chief of agnès films, an online community of filmmakers and academics, she seeks to promote feminist and female-centric film and video production as well as scholarship on and through such production.
