Cellphones

Perhaps it's my new found love of the iPhone or my teaching writing in electronic environments this semester but this article was interesting: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/17/science/17map.html. Also, a student gave a presentation yesterday on the changing role of cellphones and she touched on issues raised in the article.

I like the way they are talking about maps in general (echoes Jameson in a way) and the combination of GPS (physical maps) and social software (social maps) into the phone. It's amazing how much change is happening so quickly. Just go back 10 years. Seems like the technological stone ages. It's definitely going to be interesting to see how it all plays out.
